5K!

This morning was the Ogden 5K. I ran with my mom and we ran just under 11 minute miles. I don't have my "official" time yet, but we felt like we did really great. It was such a great experience to be able to run with my mom. The scenery was beautiful and the company was great. Thanks Mom! It was fun!

I Went Back!

Yes, I went back to the gym today. Running was a little more difficult than it was when I was going steadily, but I did ok. I'm running the 5K on Saturday and I'm a little nervous, but hopefully I'll be ok. Ty cried in the nursery for quite awhile and I was off my regular schedule so I only got to go to 1/2 of Zumba. Moral of the story? Don't stop going to the gym because it's only harder when you do go back. Also I gained 4 pounds from my lowest weight which isn't too bad considering I haven't been exercising and have been eating like crazy.

I'm not gettin' skinny

I logged onto my blog today to check other people's blogs and realized that I no longer am getting skinny. Since I left on vacation I have lost all motivation. I need to come up with a new motivation to get me going again. I'm picking up the food journal again that I have been neglecting and getting outside to exercise. Let's go!

I'm Back!

I'm back from Cancun and it was such a great trip. A little rainy, but very motivational and relaxing! Now I just need to get back to my exercising and eating healthy. It's amazing how easily good habits are broken. I did go running the past two mornings and while I wasn't where I was I think I'll be ready for my 5K next month.

Swimsuit

I was excited to buy my swimsuit for Cancun. You can go to www.diviinemodestee.com to check out the styles that are now on sell at Costco in Riverdale. You can get them there for about $20 less than you can get them online. I got the ruched with sash top in Purple n Bubbles and either the Ruched Bubbles bottom or the Sash Bikini in Purble Bubbles. I can't wait to be on the beach!

Friday Weigh In

My oldest has been coughing terribly this week so again no gym. Not to mention that my muscles are just barely getting to where I can walk again normally after that body pump class! So no weigh in before I go to Cancun. I don't actually think I made my goal. I don't think I lost those last 2 pounds and I haven't been very disciplined this week. When I get back I'm going to be ready to get back to the gym and eating like I should.

OUCH! I went to Body Pump this morning and luckily DH was home when I got home because I had to lay down for about an hour before my muscles started working again.

Easter Candy

So I may have eaten too much Easter Candy over the weekend because I gained almost a pounds. Oops! I guess I'll just have to be extra good this next week because only one more week until Cancun!

Friday Weigh In on Thursday plus Zumba

I went back to the gym today and my ankle feels ok. Zumba wasn't too hard on it and it is a pretty fun class. I still like hip hop better, but it was fun. So since I don't think I'll be going to the gym tomorrow I figured I better do my Friday weigh in today. I was again really nervous because I hadn't weighed myself all week and I really hadn't exercised at all. I didn't quite meet the 2 pound goal, but I did lose about 1 1/2 pounds. Which leaves me with 1 1/2 pounds more to go for my Cancun goal and about 10 days until we leave. Still sounds doable!

Friday Weigh In on Saturday

I've been taking a few days off from the gym to try and let my ankle heal so I didn't do my weigh in yesterday and I hadn't weighed myself all week so I was a little nervous if I had made any progress at all. I decided to go to body sculpt today since I decided I could probably lift weights without hurting my ankle and it was an ok workout, but the good news is I did lose my 2 pounds. I have been going for 7 weeks now and have lost a total of 14 pounds. Only 3 more pounds to go to reach my goal weight for Cancun in two weeks!

Motivation

I've been doing pretty good at the "lifestyle change" that I want to create for myself. But with not being able to exercise somehow that makes it harder to stay motivated at eating healthy also. I should be eating extra healthy since I can't exercise, but somehow that doesn't seem to happen. It seems like the two of them go together. I have still been doing pretty good, and I haven't been snacking on the twinkies that got leftover in my pantry from activity days, but I haven't been quite as strict as I want to be. Hopefully this ankle will heal quickly so I can kick my motivation up a notch on the eating as well.

Ankle still hurts

I've been trying to take it easy, but my ankle still really hurts. I've been able to exercise on my elliptical at home which doesn't seem to hurt it too much. I watched someone running down the street yesterday and actually wished it was me! Who knew I would actually crave exercising when I couldn't do it?

Friday Weigh In

It's Friday, but I didn't go to the gym today due to the ankle, and baby's diaper rash, and oldest's bike crash injury that he claimed caused a headache. I did however go yesterday and I had met my goal of another 2 pounds then! So that's a total of 12. Two pounds per week for 6 weeks. I'm feeling a bit of a slump right now and I want to eat lots of chocolate, but I'm being good and making myself a salad right now for lunch. Yesterday I tried to run through the ankle pain, but I think I probably just injured it more. After 2 miles I had to stop and my whole leg has been aching since then. So I guess I'll have to take it easy for a couple of days, but that means I better be even more careful about what I eat.

Injury

About 7 1/2 years ago I was playing softball and somehow thought I should slide into third. Not a great idea. I sprained my ankle and it has never been the same since. Yesterday my oldest was running by me in his wheely shoes and ran right into my ankle. It is swollen and bruised and hurts to walk on. So I stayed home from the gym today, but I did clean out the boy's room and the play room so hopefully cleaning really does burn calories. I know it's not the same as the gym, but at least I didn't just sit around doing nothing like I wanted to!

Skiing

I spent the day yesterday skiing with oldest. You might think I had to take it easy and go slow with a six year old, but he is really fast so I still got a great workout. We did take quite a few breaks, but we went skiing from 9 am to 3:30 pm. It was a full day and lots of fun. It's a good thing skiing burns a lot of calories because we went out to our favorite restaurant Taggart's Grill and even though I thought I should only eat 1/2 my french dip it was too good and I guess skiing made me extra hungry because I ate the whole thing plus we got a pink sugar cookie and shared that. MMMM! Let's hope the skiing outweighed the dinner.

Friday Weigh In

Today was weigh in day. I did it! I lost my two pounds during my birthday week. Of course my birthday was only yesterday and I'm still going to dinner on Saturday also so maybe next week will be the hard week? My weight loss has been kind of strange. Even though I only post results on Friday I have to admit I'm not patient enough to only weigh myself once I week. Most of my weight I lose by Tuesday. After that it's pretty steady. I have now lost a total of ten pounds. I think that's a pretty significant amount! And people are starting to comment that I look skinnier and that feels good also. When you work so hard it's nice to see results.

Birthday Week


It's the beginning of my birthday week. Birthday traditions usually include food. Garret and I went out tonight to celebrate (we like to celebrate for a couple of weeks!) I couldn't help but get the free dessert, but I only had 3 bites of the ice cream. We brought it home to share with the kids and it was delicious, but I'm going to have to be careful this week!

Friday Weigh In

So I've been "gettin' skinny" for 4 weeks now and I've lost 8 pounds. I'm right on my goal and I think it's actually getting easier. I'm not craving sugar as much and I'm feeling stronger and actually enjoying exercising. I jogged 3 miles today in about 30 minutes so I'm also getting faster! I haven't dropped a pant size yet, but I did go one hole in on my belt so that's some success. Only 5 more weeks until Cancun!

Not Feeling Well

I have not been been feeling well for the past 3 days. Kind of nauseous and headaches. Tuesday I still had a pretty good workout, but felt pretty awful for the rest of the day. Yesterday I didn't exercise at all and felt ok. Today I went to the gym and did all my weights and walked for 20 minutes. I feel very lazy and want to feel better and get back to my full exercising. Tomorrow.

Friday Weigh In

It's Friday again. I lost between 1.5 - 2 pounds. It wasn't exactly 2, but it was pretty close. I feel like I'm still on track, especially since I only got to the gym twice this week. Today I had a good workout even though the track was closed at the gym I jogged on the treadmill for 3 miles. It took me a little longer than on the track, but I did jog for a full 30 minutes which I haven't done on the track. I usually walk every third lap. It does help to be distracted watching tv.

Outside jog

I was getting a little bored with the elliptical this morning so I decided to brave the cold and jog outside. I haven't done that for awhile and it felt so good that I could go so much faster and farther than I could in the fall. I can feel myself getting stronger and I'm looking forward to feeling myself getting skinnier.

Sick Baby

My baby is sick so I can't do my usual schedule of going to the gym. Luckily I do have an elliptical and Wii Fit at home so I am still exercising. Whenever I start a routine it seems to get interrupted just as it gets easy. But I will get back on Thursday (as long as baby keeps getting better) so in the meantime I'll try to work hard at home.

Friday weigh in

It's Friday weigh in and I met my goal! Another 2 pounds gone. Plus I did a body sculpt class today and it was tough! Now just to get myself back to the class next week.

3 miles

I am now jogging 3 miles. Well - I jog 3 times around a track and walk one. 10.5 laps is a mile and today I made 32 laps in about 33 minutes. I've increased my jogging and my time and my distance quite a bit since I started so I feel good about my progress.

Grocery Shopping

I used to love grocery shopping. Now with three kids I have been loving it less. But now with three kids and trying to eat more healthy it's torture. Walking past all that delicious food and doing my best to keep my eyes toward only those that are healthy is difficult. And now all the delicious Easter candy is tempting me. Good thing I have those Cancun images in my head to keep me walking right on past.

Exercising

I've never been an exercise fanatic. But I have been going to the gym fairly consistently now for a couple of months and I'm finding I really enjoy it. It's great me time and I really do feel better for the rest of the day after I've exercised. I've heard people saying that forever, but now I believe it. And I feel like I'm getting stronger which is great!

Next Weekend

I was going to start the Isagenix 9 day plan, but I didn't plan ahead well enough and didn't get the supplements in time. So now it's going to be next weekend. I guess that means I just need to eat well and exercise this week so I can achieve my goals.

Cancun


We are going to Cancun in 9 weeks. My goal is to lose 17 pounds by then. I think that is a do-able goal. Only 2 pounds per week. I weighed myself today at the gym so I'll post when the pounds go down.

Food Journal

I bought a notebook today so I could keep a food journal. I think writing down what I'm eating will help keep me accountable and help me see exactly what I'm eating. I just had a few bites of my baby's leftover birthday cake and I'm already not excited about writing it down.

It's time

It's my baby's 1st birthday and I'm finally ready to commit to losing this weight. Well I'm committing on Monday. After all you can't actually start on Superbowl Sunday right? Carmel Popcorn is much too good for that. I decided that if I have to write about my progress maybe that will help me accomplish the weight loss instead of just talking about it. Wish me luck and I'll post the progress as it happens.
